COURTIAL "DON´T YOU THINK IT´S TIME" LP
FREESOUL/JAZZ/FUNK ALBUM WITH THE KILLER TRACK "LOSING YOU"!!!!!!!!
Courtial "Don´t you think its time" LP. Released in 1975 on private label Pipeline. This album contains the funk/latin/rockish song "Losing you" which has been compiled on several compilations. Honestly I dont think I would have kept this album if it wasn´t for that track - in that way it is sort of like a "one tracker" in my mind. Eventhoug "Time to explain" which is a nice track in a free-soul vein and the Herbie-ish electric jazz/funk instrumental workout "Corn on the cob" is a pair of good tracks too. But "Losing you" is simply soooo much better - with a bangin intro with a great piano hook -and then it explodes into supreme funkmode!!! -actually kind of a sad song but with agressivenes of the the funk. Courtial was formed by guitarist Bill Courtial and "Coke" Escovedo - Errol Knowles on vocals. Got it at very cheap 25$....still very cheap even with the cutout. Apparently the guy I bought it from did not know what monster track this album contains.
ENJOY!!!!

ORCHESTRA HARLOW - EL EXIGENTE - LP
Boogaloo/Soul/Guaracha Classic!!!!

Harlow Orchestra "El Exigente" LP released on Fania records in 1968.
Knockout Latin/Soul Record from Larry Harlow as the leader of Orchestra Harlow.
Featuring a very young singer at 17 years of age : Ismael Miranda.
Harlow studied Afro-Cuban music after leaving New York for Cuba in the 50s. He returned to New York before getting his degree because of the revolution, but gained experience enough to release among others this quality album blending soul with other styles such as boogaloo and so on.
Best known track on "El Exigente" is the funky track "Freak Off" which Im sure has filled many dancefloors throug the years!! "Las Luces", "Mess Around" and "That groovy Shingaling" are just SOME of the other tracks worth mentioning on this LP
He was the second artist to be signed to Fania and is right up there (if not better) with some of the other Fania releases around that time by artists such as Ray Barretto, Joe Bataan etc.
Apparently its a Venezuela mono pressing I found - still great ; loud and clean copy!!!

I PYRANAS "GIULIETTA E ROMEO" LP
BIG BIG BIG RECORD!!! PSYCH/FUNK/JAZZ HOLYGRAIL FROM ITALY!!!!!

Pyranas Giulietta e Romeo LP. Released in 1970 on Italian RCA ARC (ALPS 11016)

This Album is truely amazing!! One of the holy grails of psyche/funk out of Italy!!
The album consists of raw Mohawks style hammond tracks with hardhitting aggresive scat-vocals blending with a hammering psychedelic jazz funk!!! lot of interesting moments on this one with neckbreaking guarantee!!! If you wouldnt have guessed it by now I really dig this album..... Just loaded with breaks and beats and with catchy simple themes with a hard edge!! also a blazing horn section really puts their stamp on this one!!!
Eventhoug this is some sort of concept album - there is a lot of twists and turns on this album and that is exactly what is so wonderful about it - you can sence that they are experimenting alot with arrangements and it really works!!

(I really dont know if its a concept-album – just assuming from the title...a twisted soundtrack to the story about Romeo and Juliet atleast I think so – cant speak Italian so I wouldnt know for sure.)

Some people compare this with the Mohawks but to be honest - I like this much better!!!

Dont really know much about the group or the impact their 3 albums had at the time. The band formed in 1967 and released this album as their last one in 1970.

This is one of the rarer Lps of mine - and one of the best..

So happy to share it with you out there!!!!!

UNDISCOVERED ( I THINK ) LEBANON FUNK/PSYCH bOmB!!!
HEAVY ORIENTAL TRACK ON THIS ONE!!!!

Orientalissimo with Ihsan Al-Munzer Volume 2 LP. Released on VOS (voice of stars) Records in 1980. Recorded in Beirut. I have never seen this one before and I have not found any info or seen other copies for sale on the internet so Im guessing that is relativly unknown...  The track "Sari Aghtchik" is a MONSTER midtempo psych-ish track with oriental inspiration. It really blew my mind when I heard this!! I guess it could also work at a dancefloor as the track is consistent all the way throug - meaning that there are no long solos etc. Therefore the track sounds (to me) like an edit or remix. check it out!!!!
